Poachers Pantry

Photojournalism Workshop

We had a photojournalism workshop that consisted of half theory, ethics and some amazing stories of Belinda's experiences as a professional photojournalist. We had a field trip to the tent embassy and we met Judy who lives at the tent embassy. She gave us a talk about the native culture and some theories about aboriginals. We then did a ceremony and took some photos and these are some shots from then.

Wedding Prep

All natural Light

Maybe a reflector or maybe not but defiantly window light.

Underwater Photography

This a common setup for underwater photographers

Our talk about underwater was very interesting and made me what to do underwater photography really bad. I learnt alot about diving and what you need to dive and get the best photos. We learnt alot about deep diving and how the red spectrum gets cut out to just green and blue when diving deep in water. Every metre of water in front of the lens either way cuts out more of the red side of the spectrum. When diving deep you must use your lighting to get and colour in anything and it must be as far away from the lens to not get the specs of water in the image as little white dots. Also it is best to either use a macro or wide angle lens when doing underwater photography because you want to minimise the amount of water between the lens and your subject.

Great talk and very interesting

Underwater Prepe

No lighting diagrams for this one

This is a common camera setup for underwater photography

Shot without any flash

May have used flash but most likey no flash

Automotive Prep

I cant really do lighting diagrams for these shots.

This shot yo can see the lighting in this one and it looks like there may be another flood with barn doors out of frame on the left to light the front.

This shot is with natural light done from another moving vehicle

Folio Research

This Site is amazing for car photograph and learning from other photographers and this is where most my inspiration is based

Location Automotive

A very very very cold workshop but still a fun one

The weather was only just good enough to shoot but i still learnt alot and made me even more exited to do automotive fro my location assignment.

I tried a bit of light painting but because i didn't bring a jumper i was extremely cold and only tried once and then gave up, i already know how to light paint cars from researching online.

I am not a fan of the location but still turned out ok i think =]

Cant wait to get a good start on my folio

Lighting Workshop

This workshop was some more lighting practise

We had a Bowens kit with 3 heads 1 white reflector umbrella and a massive silver reflector umbrella.

The photos were meant to be for purposes for CIT.

This shot was meant to be a teacher helping a student.

The way it really is hahahah jokes

Students having fun together (using random students)

And these two are the directors photos

This one i believe is our strongest shot as it has a good depth of feild and the background is interesting (apart from that leaf).

Light Test

I bought some new flashes and radio transmitters, this was my first attempt at using them.

I found the batteries i am using were very slow at recharging the flashes and they only lastest about 10 minutes of shooting. I also found that i defiantly need to buy some sandbags for my stands as i was using umbrellas and the slightest bit of wind catches and makes the lights fall. I ended up using bricks on the stands which was a bit of a hassle when moving the lights.

I have decided to most probably do fashion for both location and studio folios as i think it will be challenge and a great experience as i have never shoot fashion before.
